Coming to the User Interface, FontBase has kept it as simple as it can. However, we thought its Preview part could have been better. Still, the app does a great job when it comes to importing and managing fonts. You can simply drag and drop font files/folders to import them. Open the Applications folder in the Finder (if it doesn’t appear in the sidebar, go to the Menu Bar, open the “Go” menu, and select Applications in the list), search for FontExplorer X Pro application by typing its name in the search field, and then drag it to the Trash (in the dock) to begin the uninstall process. Alternatively you can also click on the FontExplorer X Pro icon/folder and move it to the Trash by pressing Cmd + Del or choosing the File and Move to Trash commands. Adding fonts Now that you've created your Sets, Smart Sets and Folders, you will certainly want to activate or deactivate the Fonts within them. Easily do this by clicking the Checkmark for the whole Set, Smart Set or Folder. Activating all the Sets for a project is now just a click away. It’s no secret that I’ve been a huge fan of Extensis Suitcase Fusion for many years. In fact, I’ve never veered away from it for my font management needs since the days of Mac OS 9 on my PPC Macs. Recently I was asked by the folks at Linotype/Monotype to take a look at FontExplorer X Pro 3. I had no interest in switching font managers but I figured what the heck, I’ll give it a try.
Easily and quickly activate and deactivate any font whenever you want. In FEX, click the check box next to any font or font set to activate or deactivate the fonts. (An active font is one that you can select from a font drop-down menu in your software programs.) This is especially helpful when a couple hundred foreign language fonts are installed on your computer.
